Alison Taylor, Chief Executive Officer:
The highlight of 2023 for me has been to see our team grow, bond, support each other and produce truly superb work. I know that many benefit from the flexibility of working from home but the best days for me are the ones when we’re all in the office together, the music is on, the coffee brewing, and the team is brainstorming and dreaming up more fabulous creative ideas for our clients and the charitable causes we support.
Zoë Scorer, Managing Director:
One of my highlights has certainly been returning to the business after maternity leave and taking on the role of Managing Director. Reflecting back on where Conscious Communications started and where we are now is a thrill and to now be in charge of the day to day running of the business is a true privilege. I’m so proud to work with each and every team member and am always energised to see how they run their client programmes with such passion and flair. Bring on 2024!
Ali White, Associate Director & Head of Business Development:
One of my highlights has been immersing myself into the world of AI tools, both hearing from experts and trialling and testing different tools out ourselves. With no signs of slowing down, new technologies and tools which will impact the way we work are always fascinating to learn about and I look forward to seeing both where the technology and the team will do with them next.
Sophie Baillie, Associate Director & Head of Client Services:
There are too many highlights to pick just one, but I thoroughly enjoyed hosting feedback sessions with our clients as part of our client servicing strategy, which provided lots of positive and helpful reflections for our team and confirmed our position as a leading media relations agency. We are always proud of the results we achieve for our clients, but we can always strive to be even more creative and provide more strategic counsel and added value.
Elle Roberts-Nissen, Head of Events:
It has been another big year for the CC Live team! From conferences and exhibitions, to our very own summer extravaganza… kicking off our East of England Faraday Challenge Days to two Christmas fairs, it is safe to say we have ramped up our in-house event services and can’t wait to get stuck into even more for 2024!
Tom Evans, PR & Marketing Manager:
2023 has been a whirlwind in all the right ways! Throughout the year, I’ve helped some of our school clients take home first prize in prestigious educational awards, provided PR support for an event with Cambridge City Foodbank and the local MP, and even dabbled in some LEGO building for FIRST LEGO League… However a highlight has to be supporting CHS Group with its communications strategy so that the organisation can help local people achieve a better quality of life.
Keir Taylor, PR & Marketing Assistant:
Working with Cambs Youth Panel on its Christmas Fair at Westminster College has stood out to me as a highlight since joining CC in March. It feels really good to know all the skills I’ve learned throughout the year have been used on an event that helps families at a difficult time of year for so many.
Hanna Garrett, PR & Marketing Manager:
It feels impossible to choose just one highlight from this year! I have been lucky enough to support several new clients across a wide range of industries including education, transport, and the third sector with PR and marketing activity. Whether we have been securing media coverage in national or key trade titles, positioning them as thought leaders on social media, or securing interviews with award-winning podcasts, it is hugely satisfying to see our client’s profiles grow as a result of our work together.
Nick Stunt, PR & Marketing Manager:
The highlight for me was joining this fantastic company. The passion and hardwork from everyone is so infectious and makes you want to do so much more for the amazing clients we work with. The office itself is something I have never experienced and that’s really a good thing; never before have I felt breathless from laughing at one moment to instantly getting our heads down the next! Watching everyone work with their talents and support each other has really helped me settle in and I am so excited to continue life at CC into 2024.
George Reader, PR & Marketing Assistant:
This year has absolutely flown by and it’s definitely been a busy one! It’s hard to pick just one highlight, however, beginning our work as one of the delivery partners for the IET’s Faraday Challenge has got to be up there. Teaching a STEM workshop to Year 8 students isn’t something I thought I would be doing, but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the experience so far. Two down, 11 to go!
David Hartley, PR & Marketing Manager:
2023 has been such an incredible experience for me since joining CC back in March. I’ve learnt so much and had so many brilliant experiences that it’s hard to pick just one. Our summer Under the Stars event was a massive highlight for me, but I’ve also enjoyed getting stuck into the delivery of the Faraday Challenge to Year 8 students across the East of England. 2024, here we come!
Gemma Cooper, Senior PR & Marketing Executive:
The run up to Christmas has been a busy one with preparations for next year’s FIRST LEGO League robot tournaments well underway and overseeing the PR for a national event for our client, ACS International Schools, which saw hundreds of school children perform with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Bring on 2024!
Rick Newman, Senior PR & Marketing Executive:
I know that many of my colleagues have said this already, but there really have been too many highlights to single out just one. Having said that, I have particularly enjoyed working with our client, Impington Village College, to secure record attendance numbers at its Sixth Form open evening, through a near-clean sweep of national and regional print media coverage.
Karen Roberts, HR Manager:
I joined the team in April and it’s difficult to identify one highlight for me for 2023. I have been really impressed by the high level of commitment and motivation in the team and am looking forward to supporting our Investors in People reinvestment in January. It’s a great opportunity to showcase everything we do to strengthen employee connection, engagement, wellbeing and organisational culture to be a force for good.
George Inwards, Junior Content Designer:
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working on Cambridge Youth Panel’s Christmas Fair, CHS Group’s newsletter, Region of Learning toolkits, OIC Brighton’s social media content…the list could go on. It’s been busy but so exciting, and I feel lucky to work on projects like these with such a fun office environment! I’ve also really enjoyed designing our CC Live brochures ready for next year; it’s been great to look back over the events that CC Live has organised and pull them all together in one place. Can’t wait for more in 2024!
Abbie O’Connor, Multimedia Designer:
It’s hard to pick one highlight from 2023 but the office culture has to be one of my favourite things because of how fun and friendly everyone is. On a more professional level, I have really loved seeing the team pull off some amazing events this year and how well we work as a team even though we are from different disciplines.
Alan Beeson, Head of Design:
The breadth of conceptual and creative thinking lead to a high standard of work from the growing design department, which is, in no small way, linked to the arrival of Abbie O’Connor and George Inwards. Both have arrived with fresh, innovative design solutions to, sometimes, complex client design briefs and have managed those challenges with such a high degree of enthusiasm, inventive thought processes and professionalism. What an excellent year it has been.
