Elle Roberts-Nissen, Head of Events:

Please give us a short introduction to you, how long you have been at Conscious Communications and your job role.

I joined Conscious Communications in February 2022 as Head of Events, following 10+ years in the hospitality industry. I have worked both in the UK and Australia, from event sales to food and beverage operations, but it was in event planning and management where I found my passion. Conscious Communications has been delivering successful events over the past 10 years and have brought me on board to grow this department and service to our current and prospective clients. I am so excited to expand our services and expertise with the ever-growing team and client base. CC Events focuses on offering a bespoke event planning and management service that will not only create once in a lifetime events but unforgettable experiences for our clients and their guests.

Can you give us an overview of your first few months at the agency?

Coming from the hospitality industry where I was planning weddings one day and residential conferences the next, it has been a whirlwind of adventure joining the team at Conscious Communications. Agency life is proving to be exactly what I have been working towards and I am now fortunate enough to work with multiple venues and a vast variety of different clients. The team at Conscious Communications are warm, friendly and fun to be around. We are a team of like-minded individuals with so many ideas between us. I love our monthly client creative brainstorms where we come up with the weird and wonderful ideas that will exceed all of our clients’ expectations.

Is there a piece of work you are particularly proud of, or a reason why you enjoy the role?

I am particularly proud of confirming two new contracts within my first three months, and they just so happened to be on the same day! I am really enjoying developing the events department and am thankful that the management team at Conscious Communications trust me to get on with it. With my experience, I am able to come up with strategies to find and secure new business, put into place the day-to-day processes of event planning, meet new people and ultimately provide a five-star experience for what can be quite a stressful time for corporates.

What inspires you most?

There are a few things that inspire me.

  • Flexibility and creativity: I’m inspired everyday coming in to Conscious Communications because I am given flexibility within my role to create out-of-the-box event proposals and ideas for our clients. No day is ever the same, and that’s what makes things exciting and keeps it fresh.
  • Food! I love keeping up-to-date with food trends, trying local and seasonal produce and finding new dining spots! This also helps me to source the best caterers for my clients; I can propose innovative and creative catering suggestions to elevate events – after all, food is the most important part of an event, isn’t it?

What are your favourite aspects of approaching events? Are there any events that particularly stand out?

For me, it’s about conceptualising; having that initial conversation with the client and really listening to their vision (it’s the most important meeting you will have with a client during the event planning process!). I never put a proposal together based on the top-line vision or information. Creativity within the events sector is so important, and being able to find innovative ways to bring a concept to life is what makes an event planner stand out amongst the rest, placing them above the competition. Most people can put together a meeting for 10 delegates, but the goal should be elevating that meeting and exceeding your client’s expectations and that’s what I hope to do for every event at Conscious Communications.
