Never stop learning…
Ellie, PR and Marketing Executive
During my interview process with Conscious Communications, it was mentioned that, to have a successful career in PR, you must never stop learning and within my first three months at the company, I have certainly been introduced to this mantra. Igniting the former English student in me, the start of my career at Conscious Communications has been heavily focussed on making sure that I take in all of the new information and research about clients, learn new skills and take advantage of all the experiences that I can along the way.
Looking back to my first week at Conscious Communications, it certainly started with a bang! Joining the company the same week that the FIRST Tech Challenge UK was taking place meant that I was thrust into my new position and any pre-job thoughts I had about spending my first week watching nervously over someone’s shoulder, were soon thrown out of the window.
The FIRST Tech Challenge is a competition which brings young people together and challenges them to design and build a robot to compete in a series of contests. During my first week on the job, the team and I travelled to both of the FIRST Tech Challenge UK events in Peterborough and Manchester, with early morning wake up calls and plenty of robot jargon that, I am not ashamed to say, may have passed over my head. The introduction to the versatility of the role within PR is something that stood out to me and the clear passion of everybody involved was inspiring – it certainly made the early alarms bearable.
The bonus of working within an agency is the diversity of clients that you work across, which, of course, means that you may be working on producing content or writing social media posts on a topic that involves some extra reading and guidance from the rest of the team. Through working on clients within the hospitality, e-commerce and education sectors, I have found myself learning new and exciting topics such as the different national curriculums from around the world, e-commerce and how to navigate online marketplaces and the world of games development. Although sometimes outside of my comfort zone, I have massively enjoyed the opportunity to learn and gain valuable experiences, and I remain determined to soak up all of the information that I can.
A passion for PR, marketing and the client sectors that the team work within was clear from my very first interview. As I enter my fourth month here at the company, this passion is something that I continue witness every day within the office. I can honestly say that I am in awe of my fellow colleagues, the team work, hours and enthusiasm that they put into the job, alongside the encouragement that everybody shows one another, is something that makes me excited to come to work every day and inspires me to push myself further through my career.
