Falling into publishing was a happy accident. However, with the print industry in permanent decline, this acted as my catalyst to start out as a freelance designer. To do this successfully it was essential to examine, understand and offer more than just print design.
During this period, there were game-changing advancements in the industry web design, digital photography, digital film editing and motion graphics. If you were a designer who wanted to experiment, explore and offer these areas of design to clients, it was a rich time.
Before joining Conscious Communications, I had previously worked with Alison on a number of interesting projects, admired her and what her company stood for and loved the variety and challenges of the work I had undertaken. I was certain that Alison’s proposal of joining the team would have been self-defeating to turn down. How could anyone see downsides in loving the work, the variety of challenges presented and solutions to find, working with incredibly talented, committed colleagues? Today at Conscious Communications, I oversee all the design work that is created in-house, whether that be print or digital, which amplifies the impact of the public relations and marketing campaigns that we deliver for our clients.
