Zoë Scorer, Managing Director:
- Showcasing B Corps in B Corp Month
- A growing movement
- The real power lies in our actions
Have you noticed supermarket end-of-aisle shelves filled with products proudly displaying a ‘B’ logo this month? That’s because March is B Corp Month, when businesses collaborate every year to champion a better way of doing business. The B stands for ‘Benefit for all’, and for over 19 years, B Lab (the non-profit that administers B Corp certification in the UK) has sought to shift the focus of businesses to prioritise its workers, customers, suppliers, investors, regulators and the environment.
While end-of-aisle displays are a striking way for B Corps to showcase their products, service businesses like ours take a different approach. This year, our team launched a B Corp Month takeover across our social channels – dispelling myths around certification, celebrating fellow B Corps in our region, and even indulging in a taste test of our favourite B Corp brands like DASH Water, Bio&Me granola, and Tony’s Chocolonely.
Beyond digital engagement, we wanted to create real-world impact. That’s why we teamed up with Cambridge Judge Business School Executive Education and Costello Medical to co-host an event celebrating B Corp Month. Business and thought leaders from across Cambridgeshire came together to explore how regenerative futures can shape sustainable growth. As the first event of its kind in the Cambridgeshire, it not only highlighted the progress made by local B Corps but also encouraged other businesses to adopt more socially and environmentally responsible practices.
Since certifying as a B Corp 22 months ago, we’ve seen firsthand how it sets businesses apart in an industry where ethical communications and corporate responsibility are more valued than ever – by clients, employees, and partners alike. Companies are recognising that embedding sustainability into their operations is not just good for the planet, but also essential for attracting talent and meeting customer expectations.
As the B Corp movement grows, so does scrutiny over the integrity of its certification. Rather than diminishing its value, this should inspire B Corps to lead by example, demonstrating that responsible business is about real action, not just rhetoric. Cambridge is poised for rapid growth, and with it comes the opportunity for more businesses to embrace B Corp principles – particularly in sectors like development and construction, where sustainability is crucial.
B Corp isn’t just a logo on a product or a website, it’s a movement. The real power lies in our actions. By making corporate social responsibility and sustainability central to our business, we attract the clients we dream of working with and the talented employees we need to grow. For us, B Corp certification wasn’t a transformation – it was a validation of the values we’ve held from day one. The day we received our accreditation was simply the icing on the cake.
