Please give us a short introduction to you.

I joined Conscious Communications as a PR & Marketing Manager in October 2023 following a brief stint in the charity sector. My first step into PR was through agencies in London working across a bit of everything from healthcare, travel, finance, technology, food and even smartphones before I left the busy streets of the capital to settle down in a much quieter small town in Lincolnshire. I have always believed that we should use our skills to help improve the world and the lives of people around us, so when the role at Conscious Communications became available, I jumped at the chance to be part of an ethically responsible agency.

Can you give us an overview of your first few months at the agency?

Jumping back into agency life has been just as fascinating as it has been busy! I have loved getting to grips with entirely new industries and sectors and have spent the first few months trying to be as much of an expert as I can in everything our clients do. Helping to support the team with a new perspective has been really rewarding, I have loved looking at a new or existing client and thinking “where next?” or “what if?” these types of questions are always exciting and can lead to fantastic pieces of coverage or content.

Is there a reason why you enjoy the role?

I have always enjoyed taking a look at a company or individual and finding that interesting angle that helps to tell their story. Whether it’s an individual on a university campus or innovator creating the next generation of battery technology, we get to speak to so many interesting clients on a daily basis and help share their amazing work with the rest of the world.

What inspires you most?

For me it’s always the most ordinary people who are doing incredible things that inspires me most. I’ve had the pleasure in my previous roles and at Conscious Communications of coming face-to-face with people who are extraordinary yet some of the humblest people you will ever meet. It makes me even more determined to put my skills into something positive and work hard to tell their stories an inspire people in the same way I’ve been inspired myself.

What is your favourite campaign that other brands have created?

During the pandemic, Netflix announced that it would be posting spoilers of their own shows on billboards across the world in order to prevent people from going out and breaking lockdown laws. Although none of these adverts were actually real, the campaign went viral and was just a genius piece of marketing that was the talk of the internet in the early days of the pandemic. I have a bittersweet feeling when I see a great campaign, I enjoy the creativity but can’t help but get annoyed that I hadn’t thought about it myself!
